Adding Video Content
How to embed video lessons using YouTube.
Video Support
The platform supports embedding video content in lessons. Currently supported video providers:
- YouTube — embed any public or unlisted YouTube video
Adding a YouTube Video
- Open your lesson in the Content Manager
- Set the Video Type field to "youtube"
- Paste the full YouTube URL in the video URL field
Accepted URL Formats
The following YouTube URL formats are supported:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_IDhttps://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID
Using Unlisted Videos
If you don't want your lesson videos to be publicly discoverable on YouTube:
- Upload the video to YouTube
- Set the visibility to Unlisted (not Private)
- Copy the URL and paste it in Strapi
Unlisted videos can be embedded and viewed through the platform but won't appear in YouTube search results.
Video Placement
The video player appears at the top of the lesson page, above the written content. Students can watch the video and read the written content below it.
Tips
- Keep videos focused — One topic per video works best
- Set the duration — Update the lesson's Duration field to match the video length
- Add written content too — Complement the video with a text summary for students who prefer reading
